Corrections
Figures here are derived from published sources by a build process, so an error
is usually a mistake in matching or in method rather than in the source.
How corrections are handled
A reported error is checked against the original source. Where it is confirmed, the build is
corrected and the change is recorded in the project's specification, including what was wrong and
how it was found. Corrections are not made silently.
Currently known
- Dorset is excluded from rankings. No honest mapping exists between the 1961
county and any modern authority, for the reasons set out in
how places are matched.
- Dorset has no 1981 or 1991 figure. The modern authority covering Bournemouth,
Christchurch and Poole did not exist before 2015, so those years cannot be built for it.
- 1961 is shown at whole-county level only. District boundaries for 1961 are
not available under an open licence, so the change within a county cannot be mapped for that
year.
- Persons per room is not compared. The 1961 and 2021 measures are different
instruments, as described in sources and method.
